ZINDIQ – زنديق

 

Literally means a ditheist, materialist, or an absolute atheist.

As an Islamic Term: An individual who belongs to or promotes zandaqa. Standing as a highly dangerous and misbelieving munâfiq, a zindiq masks irreligion, hypocrisy or hostility under a guise of religious or public piety. They use deceptive masks to subvert the ummah from within, actively striving to extinguish the nûr of îmân through intellectual and social corruption.

1 اَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا فَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا هُمُ الْمَكِيدُونَ Or, like charlatan munâfiqs and deceptive zindiqs whose fitrahs are corrupted and consciences rotted, do they want to deceive the people, trick them and turn them away from the hidâyah, which they themselves cannot obtain? Do they want to make others believe what they themselves do not even believe by calling you at one time a soothsayer, at another time a madman and another time a sorcerer? Do not deem such deceitful charlatans as human beings, nor be saddened by their wiles and denials or become dispirited! Rather, increase your efforts even more! For they only trick their own nafs and harm themselves; and their success in evil is temporary; it is istidraj and a stratagem of Allah.

We desire deliverance and gladness, rejoicing and progress and victories, but not through the sword of the kâfirs. May the swords of the kâfirs devour their own heads! We have no need for any benefit that comes from their swords. Indeed, it is those obstinate foreigners who infested the people of îmân with munâfiqs and bred the zindiqs.

The Sixteenth Flash

 

Twelve years ago [twelve years prior to the composition of this risale], I heard that a most dreadful and obstinate zindiq had initiated his plot against the Qur'an through its translation, saying, "Let the Qur'an be translated, so that everyone may see what it truly is” — that is to say, he engineered a dreadful plot designed to make everyone see its supposedly redundant repetitions and to have its translation recited in its place. However, the irrefutable proofs of the Risale-i Nur conclusively proved that a true translation of the Qur'an is impossible, that no other language can preserve the virtues and subtle nuances of the Qur'an in place of Arabic — which is a grammatical language — and that man’s inferior and limited translations cannot replace the miraculous and all-encompassing expressions of the Qur'anic words, each letter of which yields from ten to a thousand sawâb, nor can they be recited in masjîds in their stead; thus, with its dissemination everywhere, the Risale-i Nur rendered that dreadful plot abortive. Yet, because the munâfiqs who took their lesson from that zindiq have been striving — foolishly and madly like stupid children — on behalf of shaytan to extinguish the sun of the Qur'an by blowing upon it, I presume I was made to write this Tenth Topic while in a most constricted, oppressive and distressing condition. Since I am not permitted to converse with others, I do not know the true state of affairs.

Eleventh Ray-A Note for The Tenth Topic

 

Since the Risale-i Nur has demonstrated its service as a diamond sword in the hand of this greatest miracle and compelled its stubborn enemies to submit; and since the Risale-i Nur —which heralds the treasures of the Qur'an in a way that will completely illuminate both the heart, the rûh and the emotions and provide their cure, having no source or authority other than the Qur'an, being its ma’nawî miracle — performs that duty completely; it has utterly vanquished the dreadful propaganda against it and the most obstinate zindiqs; with the Risale on Nature , it smashed nature to pieces, which is the most rigid, powerful stronghold of dhalâlah; and with the Sixth Topic of The Fruit and the First, Second, Third and Eighth Proofs of The Staff of Mûsâ, it has scattered ghaflah and demonstrated the nûr of Tawhîd in a most brilliant fashion within the thickest, most suffocating and widest horizons of the sphere of ghaflah and across the broadest veils of science.
